Galway Arts Festival 2013

Galway Arts Festival runs from 15-28 July 2013. This year's dance and theatre programme includes a double-bill from Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre: The Rite of Spring (pictured above) and Michael Keegan-Dolan's new interpretation of  Petrushka; the premiĆ©re of TheEmergencyRoom's riverrun (read interview with adaptor, performer and co-director Olwen Fouere here); Howie the Rookie by Mark O'Rowe in critically acclaimed new production starring Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Landmark Productions); Mies Julie (The Baxter Theatre/South African State Theatre) in a new version of Strinberg's text by Yael Farber;  Sanctuary, a new play by Christian O'Reilly performed by Blue Teapot Theatre Company, John Scott's Irish Modern Dance Theatre, and many more.

 

Big House Festival - August 3-5, 2013

The Performance Corporation present the Big House Festival at Castletown House and Gardens from August 3-5, 2013. Promising 50+ events each day, the theatre and dance programme includes WillFredd Theatre's Farm, Ponydance's Anybody Waitin'; Wonderland and Bewley's Cafe Theatre's version of The Picture of Dorian Gray. This site-specific Festival also offers an extensive music programme including Jack L, Julie Feeney and LAPD (Liam O'Flynn, Andy Irvine, Paddy Glackin and Donal Lunny); talks, screenings, visual art exhibitions and picnics on the lawn. 

Founded in 2002 by Jo Mangan and Tom Swift, The Performance Corporation have produced site-specific work in places as diverse as the sand dunes of Bellmullet, Mayo (Lizzy Lavelle and the Vanishing of Emlyclough), a rowing boat across Lough Lannagh (Across the Lough), the Uline Arena in Washington DC (Swampoodle) and the Lamukani Community Centre near Diani beach on the southern Kenyan coast (Paka).
